  • Abstract

Background: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) incidence and prevalence varies by region. We aimed to determine the regional incidence rates of adverse clinical events associated with NAFLD.

Method(s): We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies of adults with NAFLD at baseline using 3 databases (Cochrane library, EMBASE, PubMed) to evaluate the pooled incidence of adverse clinical events associated with NAFLD. Random-effects models were used to estimate the pooled incidence of adverse clinical events.
