  • Abstract

Women appear to have a higher mortality rate and worse functional outcome than men after stroke. Differences in clinical presentation may partly explain these disparities, as presentation with non-focal stroke symptoms could delay stroke diagnosis and hamper acute care. Therefore, we investigated if there are sex differences in clinical presentation of acute stroke, and whether women present more often with non-focal symptoms.
